Front End Loader Training – This module will provide you with the basic skills, knowledge and information to safely operate a Front End Loader.

Participants will be trained and assessed on the following:

  • Driving and operating a Front End Loader safely
  • Load and dump
  • Stockpile
  • Level
  • Load truck
  • Work safely in a productive environment


  • Introduction
  • Relevant Australian Standards, Legislation and Regulations
  • WHS policy & Codes of Practice
  • Geological & survey data
  • Inspect and prepare work area
  • Potential hazards and risks
  • Coordination requirements
  • Pre-start, park-up and shutdown procedures
  • Operating techniques
  • Changing work conditions
  • Monitoring systems and alarms
  • Hazardous and emergency situations
  • Operator, service and maintenance
  • Records and reports

Training conditions are simulated to a mining/civil work environment in which:

  • Steel capped safety footwear and suitable clothing are essential
  • Hardhats and vests are provided
  • Sunscreen is advisable
  • Course manual, notepads, etc are provided

Assessment methods are of written, theory and practical observation.
