Prerequisites
Must be 18 years of age to obtain a High Risk Work Licence.
The Participant must be able to read and understand English to an appropriate level. The Participant needs to be able to read and write well enough to complete a written assessment and understand a trainer in a group training environment.

What you will learn
This course offers the information and skills to operate an EWP over 11 Metres.
It provides basic training in the safe operation of EWPs. It covers the following skills and knowledge:
Participants will be able to:
- Record and maintain information
- Assess ground conditions
- Complete the positioning, stabilising, set up of EWPs
- Operate mobile EWP
- Use communication skills
- Operate and control an EWP
- Apply risk assessment and hazard control
- Use and interpret manufacturer’s specifications and data
- Identify problems and equipment faults
- Appropriate mathematical procedures for estimation of loads
- Commonwealth, state or territory OH&S legislation, standards and codes of practice
- Ability to read and comprehend manufacturer’s instructions, procedures and safety signs
- Understanding of EWP operations and operating techniques
- Emergency procedures and safety equipment
- Understanding of organisational and workplace standards, requirements, policies and procedures
- Understanding of the hierarchy of hazard identification and control
- Procedures for the recording, reporting and maintenance of workplace records and information
- Typical routine problems encountered in the process and with equipment and adjustments required for correction.
What you get at the end
On successful completion you will be issued:
- Statement of Attainment
- Notice of Satisfactory Assessment (SafeWork SA)
- An invoice to be taken to Service SA Customer Service Centre or an Australia Post Photo Capture outlet in South Australia within 60 days of the date of issue.

- $95* to Safework SA to issue the licence

Language and Literacy Requirements
Participants must possess a proficient level of English literacy to independently complete all written assessments. Please be advised that the use of interpreters is not permitted, and assessors are unable to provide direct assistance with the completion of assessment tasks.
Note: This training does not cover other types of EWP’s e.g. Scissor lift
Frequently Asked Questions
Do you still offer a 1 day training and assessment course?
For most people, we can only offer a 2 day training course. This is due to SafeWork SA Regulations that do not allow Accredited Assessors to complete the High Risk Work Licence (HRWL) assessment on the same day as the assessment for the Unit of Competency.
If you already hold the current Unit of Competency (TLILIC0005 – Licence to operate a boom-type elevating work platform High Risk EWP Over 11m – Boom Lift), we can do the 1 day HRWL Assessment only.

What happens if I do not get to the Post Office or Services SA in time to pay my HRWL invoice?
You will have to re-sit the HRWL assessment again. SafeWork SA are very strict on the due date of your invoice. Only in very exceptional circumstances will they give an extension (work and regional work is not one of them).
